"North Royalton to pay woman $96,500" From the The Cleveland Press, Wednesday, July 17, 1974 A 24-year old Newburgh Heights office worker has agreed to accept $96,5000 from the City of North Royalton for injuries she sustained when her motorcycle hit a hole in the street on June 4, 1971. Mrs. Barbara O'Neil, of 5313 Brow Ave., and her husband, Thomas, had originally asked a total of $500,000 charging the city with negligence in maintaining a public nuisance. The settlement came after six days of trial in the Court of Common Pleas Judge Frank J. Gorman. Mrs. O'Neil told the jury that she was driving her motorcycle west on Royalton Road near York Road when the accident happened. Her motorcycle flipped over and she suffered a fractured skull and other injuries. Her eyesight is permanently damaged according to her attorney. The Law Firm of Lawrence Landskroner & Associates |
